about the job

  • Works with shared service unit on the preparation of balance sheet reconciliation and reviews the account reconciliation.
  • Prepares balance sheet reconciliation for certain asset and liability account balances that are more complex.
  • Posting of certain journal entries for month end close.
  • Manages the claims subrogation recovery and losses-in-process accounts to ensure timely clearance of the items in the account.
  • For all the above described particularly in relation to account reconciliation:
  • Ensure items in the balance sheet accounts are properly explained and followed-up within a reasonable timeline.
  • Take appropriate action to resolve accounting errors/discrepancies by collaborating with finance team members and other departments where necessary.
  • Document and improve the reconciliation procedures as appropriate.
  • Investment – review reconciliation of investment schedule to GL, prepares investment committee meeting information pack.
  • Works closely with the Financial Reporting team to ensure accurate financial reporting to external and internal stakeholders and support analysis on financial results.
  • Supports the Financial Reporting team in the quarterly reporting pack to Regional.
  • Manages queries from claims departments relating to claim payment processing.
  • Liaises with banks where necessary.
  • Liaises with necessary parties and updates banking records and internal treasury system to ensure proper authorities are set up to authorize relevant payments.
  • Works with Shared Service Unit located in Philippines to ensure accurate and timely delivery of outsourced payment functions (reinsurance and premium related payments).
  • Participates and coordinates in UAT testing related to treasury systems where necessary.
  • Participate in treasury improvement projects and other ad-hoc projects and provide recommendations
  • from a finance perspective as and when assigned.
  • Be proactive in identifying any risks / opportunities, working closely with finance team members, relevant cross-department colleagues and regional finance teams for process/control improvements.

  • Minimally 2 years of experience within the Insurance/Reinsurance industry
  • Able to work well in a team
  • Proactive, takes initiatives
