about the company
My client is a multinational insurance firm and they are currently looking for an Assistant Underwriting Manager to join them on a permanent basis. As the Assistant Underwriting Manager, you will be reporting to the Head of Underwriting. You will be a champion for New Business and Underwriting with an emphasis on Life Products. As such, you will be engaged in all related activities from various business channels.

Your responsibilities include:

  • defining, analysing, monitoring KPIs
  • ensuring that underwriting policy complies with policies, is competitive in the market and meet with the risk management strategy
  • providing high quality of new business and underwriting services
  • identifying and evaluating performance gaps and recommending solutions for enhancement in order to achieve defined levels of improvement in efficiency and productivity
  • analysing and resolving complaints from clients
  • collaborating with internal stakeholders in order to achieve client satisfaction
  • liaising and negotiating with reinsurers on facultative cases
  • establishing and developing training plans and materials related to Life products
  • maximising the performance potential and increasing engagement level of the staff

skills and experience required
You should possess:

  • Bachelor Degree
  • Insurance Professional Qualification
  • at least 5 years of life insurance underwriting experience in Singapore
  • understanding the principles, practices and regulatory aspects of Life insurance products
  • strong analytical skills and medical knowledge
  • good knowledge of life admin system, auto-underwriting engine and workflow
