about the job
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will oversee the credit assessment to evaluate the creditworthiness of new and existing customers through credit checks and reviewing of financial statements, setting appropriate credit limits, invoicing and collections. You will support with dispute resolutions on discrepancies to invoices and payments and negotiate payments plans to establish with clients. You will maintain up-to-date aging reports and provide updates to management, identifying and assess potential credit risk for credit risk mitigation. You will also ensure compliance to credit policy and build good partnership with the clients.
skills and experience required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy/Finance/Economics or equivalent or relevant professional qualifications (CA/CPA/CFA)
- Proven experience in credit control within the shipping or logistics industry is a plus
- Knowledge of shipping industry credit practices would be highly desirable
- Effective communication and negotiation abilities
- Proficient in Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
