About the company

Located in town our client is a well established marine leader seeking an experience Crewing Officer to join their dynamic and stable culture. This is a 6 months contract role and requires an individual that will bring a "can do" attitude to a hard working and supportive team.

About the role

The Crewing Officer will assist the Crewing Manager in the execution of manning operations. This

involves the administration of seafarers’ documentation, and the execution of crew changes for

allocated vessels. Your daily responsibilities as follows:

Deployment of Officers

  • Check and verify essential documents like CoC, Medical Fitness cert, STCW95 Training Certs, BOSIET,

GOC, Passport etc. are valid, current and in order. Check and verify with the Officers of same.

  • Liaise (as necessary) with the respective Out Port on local customs / immigrations updates on visa

requirements as well as location of port of joining (vessel).

  • Prepare Joining Instructions to be issued to the Officers via email to their respective SPOSHIP email

account. These will contain all relevant local (joining) port requirements on visas, customs /

immigrations procedures, meeting services (arrangement) on arrival, Out Port Office’s after office as

well as emergency contact numbers.

  • Liaise with Travel Agency to make suitable / cost effective flight booking taking into consideration

flight duration, time of departure, arrival,

- Fatigue factor, seating arrangement en-route (preferably Aisle seat for long haul flights).

- Inform (via email) Out Port Office of the Officers’ joining details including Flight No, ETA etc.

Coordinate with Out Port Office on the Officers’ movements so as to minimize down time and

unnecessary delays.

Managing Leave Rotations

  • Plan and Manage Leave Rotations for the Officers to synchronize with their re-joining or reassignment


  • Plan and Manage Leave Rotations with the emphasis on cost management – i.e. minimize standby

time and endeavor to assign them back to vessel promptly, seamlessly and in a cost-effective manner.

Identifying Training Requirements

  • To identify the seafarers training needs through regular review of his Performance Evaluations (PEVs)

and communicating to the staff concerned on his general performance (if any) areas that may require


Skills and experiences required

  • With 2 years’ experience, e.g. Marine Crewing Practice.
  • Diploma in a relevant discipline, e.g. Shipping, Administration, HR etc.
  • Understanding of Maritime Labour Convention
