about the job
... - Responsible in the areas of database design, sizing, support and maintenance
- Provide advice to the application teams based on in-depth understanding of the technology, trend and technical components of databases (MS SQL, MySQL & MariaDB)
- Develop processes for optimizing database security.
- Install and maintain the performance of database servers
- Set and maintain database standards.
- Proficient writing Linux shell scripts for maintenance and automation purposes
- Maintaining production, UAT and dev databases without outage
- Perform database administration, fine tuning and troubleshooting.
skills and experience required
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science/Engineering/Information Technology with strong proficiency in MariaDB and MySQL/MS SQL database management
- Experience in optimise the database by using indexing, load balancing, session management, deadlock and etc.
- Experience in setting up Master-Slave replication, Multi-Master replication, backup, point in time recovery, high available configurations and disaster recovery in a complex and dynamic production environment
- Familiarity with other databases such as EDB PostgreSQL or DB2 UDB will be an added advantage
- Knowledge of Linux operating system (RedHat) and basic commands
