demurrage / claims analyst in Singapore

our client is a well-established and reputable Oil & Gas Trading firm. They are currently looking for a Senior Demurrage Analyst.

about the job

• Ensure timely submission of receivable claims to counterparties without being timebarred.

• Accurately analyze and calculate demurrage including claims with careful reference to governing contracts (charterparty or trading contracts including GTCs) and supporting documents. Strategically compose the counters to optimize receivables and minimize payables.
• Actively liaise with operations, brokers, agent or any local correspondence to have all the supporting facts available for your counters. Consult legal team or PNI clubs on their legal advice to support your counters.
• Actively engage counterparties to respond on receivable demurrage including claims through emails, phone calls or meetings. Escalate to trading team or legal team if no response from the other parties upon certain period basis internal procedure. Other Project related tasks as requested by the Charterers, Shipping Operation Team Lead, or management.
• Ensure the agreed demurrage including claims amount are correctly invoiced. Arrange value date with the other parties and ensure the fund is paid or received according to the value date.
• Liaise closely with external stakeholders, including but not limited shipowners, trading counterparties, brokers, agents, PNI clubs and any concerned parties during the full claims process.
• Liaise closely with internal stakeholders, including traders, charterers, cargo operations, shipping operations, contracts team, legal team, finance team and any concerned parties during the full claims process.
• Master MAF Demurrage System to handle demurrage including claims work process on daily basis.
• Maintain accurate records of all accounts receivables and payables with monthly reconciliation with Finance departments.
• Assist to prepare monthly / yearly claims report for management review from MAF Demurrage System.

skills and experience required

• Minimally 5-8 years of relevant experience
• Experience and able to handling large volume
• Efficient with keen attention to detail, strong in demurrage calculation
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to present complex concepts in a clear and concise manner
• This role requires proficiency in English and Chinese/Mandarin both Spoken & Written (as you will be liaising with China-based customers/clients who are only able to communicate in Chinese/Mandarin)
