about the job
In this role, you will report directly to the Head of APAC Freight Forwarding Business Headquarters (FWDHQ), and be responsible for the following:
Key responsibilities
- To set the purchasing strategy which contributes to company’s sustainable growth based on the deep understanding of companies’ direction and market situation etc.,
- In consultation with Director of the FWDHQ, design the organization of ocean cargo procurement which centralizes the carrier negotiation of companies in the region to secure the vessel space with competitive cost,
- Design the operational process to achieve above mentioned targets,
- To lead the communication and negotiation with carriers to maximize the benefit of centralized negotiation with carriers,
- To liaise with counterparts
- To review, improve and standardize work processes and procedures to improve efficiency of the Headquarters meeting ISO standard,
- To review and delegate job task to ensure staff is working efficiently,
- To evaluate & appraise of subordinate’s work performance for management review,
- Annual budget and mid-term plan making for procurement activity, and monthly monitoring of the performance,
- Analyse ocean freight market, customer trend and handling volume of their companies etc. to effectively update the region wide strategy and suggest it to the management,
- Any other duties as assigned by Director of the Headquarters.
skills & experience required
You are welcome to apply if you meet the following requirements:
- At least 7 years work experience in similar position,
- Good working experience with know-how on carrier’s pricing organization and/or in ocean freight management section of huge MNC shipper (consignor) who has direct contract with carriers,
- Good working experience in MNC companies with ability to liaise with colleagues from different countries,
- Strong connections with management of carriers especially in Singapore,
- Good ability to strategize and solve problems,
- Possess strong leadership and organizational skills,
- Excellent communication and people skills,
- Possess high awareness and interests about improvements, growth and adopting new business
