As the head of the legal team, you will be expected to manage the provision of legal services, ensuring high quality, commercially focused, cost-effective, and independent legal advice. You will also be responsible for managing the legal team's budget and ensuring that legal spend is within the allocated budget. Additionally, the candidate should lead and develop processes and systems to improve efficiency and the quality of legal services provided, which may include engaging and managing external lawyers as required.
The role also involves negotiating and drafting contracts, managing risks, including maintaining a comprehensive approach to risk, risk management, and compliance. The candidate should be able to identify and assess potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Stakeholder management is another critical responsibility of this role, which involves building and maintaining relationships of trust with key stakeholders. This includes working closely with executives, the board, and other stakeholders to understand their legal and risk management requirements and deliver results that meet their expectations.
As the leader of the legal team will develop and maintain both in-house and external legal capability, ensuring that the team has the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality legal services.

skills and experience required
The successful candidate will have a degree in Law with at least 10+ years of experience as a senior lawyer, preferably gained in an in-house legal team in a technology business or in a leading law firm practising in this area. The candidate should have substantial experience in various areas of law, including commercial and contract law, company law, regulatory, dispute resolution, privacy, IT, procurement, intellectual property, anti-bribery, sanctions, and competition law. With strong stakeholder management skills you will have a customer-focused mindset.
