about the job
- Collaborates with IT senior leadership to prioritize resources and determine the service portfolio and governance needed.
- Oversees the annual OPEX and CAPEX budget for infrastructure, devops, and corporate IT to align with strategic objectives.
- Utilizes influencing and negotiation skills to promote cost-effective and innovative shared solutions that meet business goals, both within IT and across the enterprise.
- Assesses internal and external technology capabilities to ensure competitive positioning, staying current on emerging technologies to provide guidance on their assimilation and integration.
- Provides strategic direction and supervision for the design, development, operation, and support of IT systems, including full life cycle technical architecture, infrastructure engineering, operations, and service support.
- Directs the sourcing strategy and manages vendor and partner relationships at the executive level.
- Manages central teams responsible for deploying and operating physical data center, cloud, and database infrastructure, with oversight of all infrastructure health.
- Participates in customer troubleshooting and incident root cause analysis workgroups.
- Analyzes data and tracks issues to identify trends and systemic problems, utilizing metrics to drive improvements.
- Specifies tools and automation to support server and network fleet lifecycle management at scale.
- Leads the implementation of process improvements and best practices in production operations.
skills and knowledge required
- Minimally Diploma/ Degree in Information Technology or equivalent.
- Minimally 10 years of working experience in a relevant Head of IT/ Infrastructure position, with over 5 years of experience in managing large, cross-functional teams.
- Experienced in both internal and external stakeholder management across the organisation, including influencing senior-level management in decision-making.
- Experienced in managing mission critical IT projects and leading IT transformational initiatives and complex and dynamic environments.
- Experienced in operating large scale data centers footprints and supporting production systems.
- Possesses exceptional leadership skills to develop and communicate a clear tech infrastructure, dev ops, and corporate IT vision that inspires and motivates staff and aligns with the IT and business strategy.
- Demonstrates expertise in budget planning and financial management, including the use of showback and/or chargeback models.
- Shows a deep understanding of current and emerging technologies and how other enterprises are leveraging them.
- Leverages both traditional best practices and DevOps to optimize agility and IT service management practices based on ITIL.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and changes with an ability to adapt quickly and easily.
