An exciting new venture is looking to hire a Head of Risk Management to implement a robust risk and regulatory programme and promote a strong risk culture within the organisation while at the same time achieving business objectives. The organisation offers a dynamic learning environment and great exposure into establishing a start up.

about the job

As a pioneer of the organisation, you would be working in tandem with senior management to set the tone in establishing strong governance and internal controls, as well have exposure engaging stakeholders of varying seniorities across locations.

Your day to day responsibilities:

  • Responsible for regular weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually monitoring & reporting to the senior management team
  • Monitor Client’s Trading Limits & Counterparties Limits and prepare credit proposals for increase in trading limits when appropriate
  • Participate in launching and implementing new equities/futures business initiatives
  • Work with members of execution systems team and other departments to approve and establish appropriate exchange and client level trade limits
  • Analyse market risk of client portfolio and provide initial assessment of client trading strategy during client-onboarding phase
  • Understand operational processes improvements and efficiency gains through automation and application developments and updating the risk standard operational procedures
  • Continually enhance risk management culture within the Group through continuous communication with other relevant departments on the importance of risk management

skills and experience required

  • Bachelors Degree in a related discipline
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, ideally from a brokerage environment
  • Experience and knowledge in both portfolio risk (market, liquidity and counterparty risk) and enterprise risk management
  • Sound understanding of risk management practices including both regulatory requirements and industry practices
  • Familiar with equities and futures/options products
  • Fluent Mandarin Chinese proficiency is necessary to liaise with stakeholders based in China who predominantly speak Mandarin Chinese
  • Ability to take initiative and act independently, and thrive in an entrepreneurial environment
