about the job

You will maintain and support the equipment and environment of the hub in a school setting and work with clients in using the equipment safely, developing their skills and helping with projects.

You will be required to:

  • Be proficient in the use of workshop machinery for wood, metal and plastic, 3D printing
  • Prepare materials for practical based work
  • Arrange tools, fixtures, materials for focused demonstrations
  • Involved in demonstrations to aid teacher delivery e.g. preparation for routering, electric arc welding and provide technical support during activities as required
  • Carry out weekly Health and Safety checks on all equipment and machinery and maintain a record of all equipment checks
  • Undertake general maintenance and DIY tasks including making furniture and storage equipment

skills and experience required

To succeed in this position, you will need:

  • Diploma in any related discipline
  • Proficient in the use of CAM equipment, CAD software
  • Hands on experience with 3D printers; general maintenance and DIY tasks
  • Experienced practitioner and mentor in one or more of: making, coding , robotics, filmmaking, rapid prototyping, product development
  • Comfortable with a hands on approach, particularly an ability to improvise with audiences of varied ages, the use of hand tools, electronics, computer software, hardware and various other technologies
