A fast expanding biotechnology company which is making waves in the sector is looking for a BDM to spearhead their sales team!

A business development manager is a high level sales professional whose role is to help his or her business grow by acquiring new customers and diversifying its clientele, or sell additional products or services to existing ones. He or she must understand internal capabilities, research industry market trends, and create and execute an effective sales strategy that will drive sustainable growth through sales and partnerships. Based out of Singapore, to manage projects from proposal development to final deliverables, in Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct research to identify new industries and markets, market trends and customer needs.
  • Oversee the development of marketing literature.
  • Screen potential business deals by analysing market strategies and evaluating against internal priorities and capabilities.
  • Create and apply an effective sales strategy that will drive sustainable financial growth through boosting sales and forging strong relationships with clients.
  • Identify sales leads & propose potential business deals by contacting potential customers and potential business partners.
  • Pitch goods and services to new clients and maintain good working relationships with existing ones.
  • Communicate new product and service developments to prospective and existing clients.
  • Develop junior staff into valuable salespeople.

Other Responsibilities:

  • May represent company at professional meetings or seminars. Performs other work related duties as assigned. Travel will be required (up to 25%).


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science, Engineering or Business/Commerce, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • More than 2 years experience in business development/sales in pharma/biotech/medical device
  • Market knowledge & ability to sell to customer needs
  • Socially adapt, with good communication and negotiation skills
  • Prospecting skills
  • Deal closing and execution skills
  • Rapport building skills
  • Time management, organisation and planning skills, in particular sales planning skills
  • Skill in prioritizing and triaging obligations
  • Strong written, presentation, documentation, and interpersonal skills as well as a team-oriented approach.
  • Ability to provide leadership to a team of sales people
  • Creative ability to solve tough problems
  • Attention to details
  • Proficient in MS Office and CRM Software.
  • Ability to work under pressure to handle multiple tasks to meet deadlines, and deliver high quality work in a dynamic environment.
