As a Sanctions Advisory expert, you will be responsible for providing expert guidance on sanctions-related matters, ensuring the operations align with international sanctions laws and regulations. You will work closely with various departments to manage risk, advise on compliance strategies, and contribute to the development of policies and procedures to safeguard their global operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Sanctions Compliance: Monitor, interpret, and apply international sanctions regulations, including those imposed by the UN, EU, OFAC, and other relevant bodies. Advise internal stakeholders on compliance requirements and best practices.
Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments related to sanctions and provide recommendations to mitigate potential risks. Assist in identifying and addressing potential vulnerabilities in business processes.
Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver training programs for employees to increase awareness of sanctions compliance and best practices. Foster a culture of compliance within the organization.
Monitoring and Reporting: Oversee the monitoring of transactions and business activities for potential sanctions risks. Prepare and present detailed reports on sanctions-related issues to senior management.
Collaboration: Work closely with legal, compliance, and risk management teams to address complex sanctions issues and support cross-functional initiatives.
skills and experience required
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution
- Minimum 6-8 years of relevant experience in compliance with 3 years in sanctions compliance advisory
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them practically. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey and articulate complex concepts
- Knowledge of sanctions regimes, including MAS, OFAC, EU, UN sanctions, and regional regulations
