Our client is an established company in the global marine industry. As the Infrastructure team is expanding, the company is seeking a dynamic and highly-motivated Systems Engineer (Network) to be a part of their talented team.

about the job

As a Systems Engineer (Network), you will be required to:

  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
  • Maintain internet connectivity and performance of VPN link and IPSEC
  • Perform ongoing server performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
  • Maintain datacentre environmental and monitoring equipment.
  • Primary contact for the maintenance and support of Citrix Systems
  • Primary contact in providing email and on-call support for all vessel in their computer/network systems and guide them through problem-solving process.
  • Installs, configures, and maintains computer and network operating system and application software, as appropriate;
  • Serves as primary point of contact in implementation of office Anti-Virus system and update. Provide solution and resolve PC related issue.

This is a permanent role. Located in Raffles Place.

skills and experience required

To succeed in this position, you will need:

    • Education and qualification
      • Bachelor degree and/or relevant equivalent in computer engineering.
      • Systems Administration or System Engineer certification from Microsoft
      • At least 2 years of LAN/Server administration experience
      • Knowledgeable in Router/Firewall/Switches and Internet Protocol
      • Experience in Maritime industry is preferred
    • Experience
      • At least 2 years of working experience in IT Server/Virtual environment
      • Highly skilled in troubleshooting computer hardware and software.
      • Knowledgeable in Router/ Switches, Internet Protocol, VMware systems, Hyper-V, MS Windows Server, Active Directory, Firewall setup and VLAN configuration, Backups
      • Project management skills to roll out IT projects and documentation
      • Good interpersonal communication skills
      • Certification in CCNA or MSCE is preferred
