about the company
Our client is a diversified MNC commodity trading firm that does Oil / Energy / Hard commodity products. They're seeking a Trading Operator for their dry bulk shipment as part of their expansion plan in Singapore's Office.

about the job

  • Acts as a reliable point of contact for routine internal and external inquiries on the desk.
  • Maintain close contact with customers and, if appropriate, remind them of any difficulties or concerns that arise as a result of contract fulfilment.
  • Maintain close contact with traders and related teams to ensure smooth collaboration; proactively provide trading team innovative solutions.
  • Act as a point of contact for internal or external conflicts or disputes for the team
  • Participate in regular team meetings, assisting in the resolution of any operational problems (internal and external).
  • Familiar with cargo shipment procedures, policies, and industry standards, as well as shipping legislation, truck, rail, and maritime technical terms, and relevant transportation laws.
  • Communicate and liaise with ports/terminals, officers, cargo inspectors, and international legal restrictions on vessels/trucks/rail used for cargo shipments to manage cargo inventory and operations.
  • Optimise trader strategies by utilising knowledge of product movement and partnerships with external parties, accounting for delivery and supply dynamics, and addressing and communicating any transportation problems with traders.
  • Responsible for trade recaps review, confirmations, contract review and execution
  • Coordinate and confirm the issuance of Letters of credit by an internal Credit group as needed along with the collection and presentation of required documentation under a documentary letter of credit.
  • Having an analytical mindset with regard to product movement reconciliation, along with the capacity to facilitate Loss Control investigations
  • Maintain an accurate and up to date account of storage positions
  • Product movement positions, review all accruals in the system, ensuring proper costs have been booked against each trade / strategy or storage facility.
  • Reconciliation of month end inventory explaining/correcting any differences accordingly.
  • Work closely with traders on forward inventory projections.
  • Any other ad-hoc tasks as assigned by Team Leader or Regional Head of Operations.

skills and experience required

  • Minimally 5-7 years of end-to-end trading operations experience within the commodities trading industry
  • Commercially minded, know the operations process very well
  • Experienced in trade recaps review, confirmations, contract review and execution
  • This role require proficiency in English and Chinese/Mandarin (as you will be liaising with China-based customers/clients who are only able to communicate in Chinese/Mandarin)
