In this position as an Underwriter, you will work within the Energy team with a primary focus on Offshore & Upstream Energy accounts. This is a great opportunity to join one of the leading Energy teams in the market and at an exciting time as we see the Energy transition unfold in the region.

The ideal incumbent will be expected to underwrite business within the agreed business plan and individual authority, supporting the business planning and forecasting process and monitoring financial exposure within outlined limits.

You will monitor premium income to ensure it remains within set limits, maintaining awareness of all claims advised while supporting and providing input on settlement of claims and ensuring adequate reinsurance acquired to cover specific risks. You will be required to build and maintaining relationships with brokers and clients; supporting the design and structure of risks.

The successful incumbent will also be reviewing complex submissions including applications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports while conducting appropriate research to determine degree of risk for each account. Calculating appropriate risk premium by considering the risk costs inherent to the respective sector, reinsurance cessions as well as the Underwriting and general administration costs while ensuring profitability.
Proactively advising, assisting, servicing and following up with clients on insurance and risk management matters to ensure satisfaction and fulfilment of their insurance requirements.

skills and experience required

• 5+ years of experience as an Underwriter, with focus on Upstream Energy or Offshore
• Brokers with strong business development background and desire to transit into Underwriter are welcome
• Some knowledge on Oil & Gas Industry or offshore energy will be good to have
• Strong team player, proven track record and fast learner
• Highly adaptable and ability to work in fast paced environment
