We are seeking a meticulous and highly capable Settlements Officer to independently manage the day-to-day settlement activities for our Treasury, Corporate Loan, and Corporate Expense transactions. This role requires a strong technical grasp of payment networks, cash positioning, and system migrations. The ideal candidate will act as a subject matter expert, ensuring flawless execution while driving process automation.
1. End-to-End Settlement & Payment Execution
... - Independently manage daily settlement workflows for Treasury products including Money Markets (MM), Foreign Exchange (FX), Negotiable Certificates of Deposit (NCD), Bonds, and Treasury Bills.
- Process and execute complex corporate and syndicated Loan Drawdowns.
- Oversee and execute operational and corporate expense transactions accurately.
- Utilize SWIFT and various institutional e-banking platforms to execute high-value payments in strict compliance with internal guidelines and MAS regulatory standards.
- Provide expert guidance and technical clarity to Settlements Approvers (Checkers) to facilitate seamless approvals and minimize operational bottlenecks.
2. Liquidity & Cash Management
- Monitor and manage Nostro account reconciliations and real-time cash positioning to ensure funding adequacy across currencies.
- Proactively mitigate settlement and liquidity risks by identifying and resolving funding gaps before market cut-offs.
- Act as the primary liaison with external counterparty banks, custodians, and internal stakeholders to resolve settlement breaks and lead payment investigations.
3. System Enhancements & Project Management
- Drive continuous process improvements and automation initiatives to optimize workflow efficiency and reduce operational risk.
- Support ongoing system enhancements for core treasury and payment platforms.
- Play an active operational role in system projects, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT), system implementations, and standard migrations (e.g., ISO20022).
skills and experience required.
- Experience: At least 5 years of hands-on settlements experience within a Corporate Bank
- Product Expertise: Solid understanding of Treasury instruments (FX, MM, Fixed Income/Bonds/T-Bills) and Corporate Loan mechanics.
- Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in SWIFT connectivity and payment formatting.
- Direct experience with ISO20022 messaging standards is highly advantageous.
- Experience handling UAT and core banking system implementations.
- Competencies: Strong problem-solving skills for payment investigations, high level of autonomy (ability to work with minimal supervision), and sharp attention to detail under tight deadlines.
