In this role, you will manage, evaluate, and execute casualty underwriting solutions in alignment with established business plans and delegated authority limits. Operating within a hybrid working environment, the position involves direct engagement with brokers and clients to assess risk exposures, determine appropriate premium structures, and support portfolio growth. You will work alongside internal claims, reinsurance, and business operations teams to monitor financial exposures, track premium targets, and maintain regulatory compliance.
• Risk Evaluation: Reviewing complex risk submissions, including policy wordings, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial statements, to assess exposure levels and risk acceptability.
• Premium Pricing: Calculating risk premiums by analyzing sector-specific risk costs, reinsurance cessions, administrative expenses, and profit target requirements.
• Client Advisory: Servicing client and broker accounts on insurance requirements, assisting with risk management queries, and facilitating account retention and cross-selling.
• Reinsurance Structure: Collaborating with internal teams to establish and structure excess-of-loss and quota-share reinsurance coverage for specific risk placements.
• Portfolio Management: Monitoring premium income and financial exposures against authorized limits while contributing to business forecasting and claims settlement reviews.

skills and experience required
To be considered for this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:
• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience in casualty lines.
• Experience: Work experience in casualty underwriting, with direct involvement in technical risk selection, policy wording review, and account management.
• Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of casualty product portfolios, exposure management principles, and reinsurance structures, including quota share and excess of loss.
• Negotiation Skills: Experience planning and conducting negotiations with brokers and clients to reach mutually acceptable outcomes and secure business.
• Analytical Ability: Skill in gathering data, analyzing complex risk information, and applying judgment to execute underwriting decisions.
• Communication: Effective communication skills to establish relationships with brokers, clients, and internal team members.
