A new entrant into the Randstad Employer Brand Research, Google’s strong reputation for innovation held a significant appeal to job seekers. Out of the nine EVP drivers used to determine a company’s attractiveness score, Google was ranked #1 in all of them - leading them to win the Randstad Employer Brand Award in its very first year. The EVP drivers used to measure a company’s attractiveness this year include work-life balance, job security, pleasant work atmosphere and career progression - just to name a few.

Not to be outdone, Changi Airport Group came in with a close second place, an encouraging showcase of how local home-grown companies can continue to hold its own weight against global juggernauts when it comes to employer branding. This was the fourth consecutive year Changi Airport Group was ranked in the top three, after its memorable win as Singapore’s Most Attractive Employer last year.

Ms Jaya Dass, Country Director of Randstad Singapore said, "We’re incredibly proud to bring the Randstad Employer Brand Research to Singapore for the sixth year running. Organisations are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of employer branding, and we are privileged to be in a position where we can leverage the insights we have gleaned from our research to help companies on their employer branding journey. We also see these rankings fluctuate year-on-year as the competition to become Singapore’s most desired employer intensifies - with more and more companies deploying more intelligent and comprehensive employer branding strategies to attract the best talent in the market.”

“It’s fantastic to see many local organisations ranking among some of the world’s biggest and most well-known brands. Changi Airport Group, CapitaLand and DBS Bank all took home awards this year for their outstanding efforts in nurturing their employer brands,” said Ms Dass.

The Randstad Employer Brand Award, previously known as the Randstad Awards, is presented each year to the most attractive employer in 26 markets across the globe. It is based on the outcome of one of the world’s most representative and inclusive research into employer branding, covering over 160,000 global respondents.

The 75 largest companies are selected in each participating market, usually with more than 1,000 employees. This list is presented to a representative cross section of relevant respondents based on region, age, education and gender. In Singapore, over 5,000 employees and job-seekers between the ages of 18-65 were surveyed.

about randstad employer brand research

Celebrating its 17th edition globally, the Randstad Employer Brand Research Award is presented each year to the most attractive employer in 26 markets across the globe. It is based on the outcome of the most representative and inclusive employer branding research in the world. The outcome of the Employer Brand Award is based on public perception and focuses on three main areas: overall brand awareness, absolute attractiveness and relative attractiveness. This creates a level playing field for all competing companies instead of giving an advantage to large multinationals with higher name recognition than smaller companies. This award is not open for nomination and the results are based solely on the opinions and votes of the local workforce – making it the only award that is truly representing the people’s choice. The 75 largest companies are selected in each participating market, usually with more than 1,000 employees. This list is presented to a representative cross section of relevant respondents based on region, age and gender. Respondents were asked to identify companies they recognise and indicate if they would like to work for them. This is then followed up with an evaluation of attractiveness factors, such as salary, benefits, work atmosphere and job content, for each of the companies.
