about the job
In this role, you will hold strategic oversight over property and casualty underwriting operations while directing the execution of regional broker facility programs. You will be responsible for balancing portfolio expansion with technical risk control to ensure profitability and operational alignment across the distribution network.
• Team Leadership: Directing daily underwriting operations, conducting quality assurance reviews, and mentoring junior underwriting talent to maintain performance standards.
• Underwriting & Portfolio Management: Evaluating Property & Casualty risk exposures, making binding underwriting decisions, and monitoring portfolio profitability to support business growth.
• Facility Development: Structuring, negotiating, and managing regional broker facilities and strategic placement frameworks across targeted commercial sectors.
• Process Optimization: Refining internal workflow systems and departmental processes to improve operational efficiency and turnaround times.
• Governance & Compliance: Enforcing credit control guidelines and organizational policies to ensure compliance across all account activities.
about the manager/team
You will report directly to the Head of Underwriting and manage a team of underwriters within a collaborative operational environment. The team works closely with regional business partners and local distribution teams to drive consistent service execution.
skills and experience required
To be considered for this role, you should possess the following qualifications and professional background.
• Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent tertiary qualification, accompanied by Basic Commercial Products (BCP) and Commercial General Insurance (CGI) certifications.
• Experience: Minimum of 7 to 9 years of professional general insurance experience, with direct exposure to Property and Casualty classes.
• Broker Management: Demonstrated experience in managing broker relationships, broker-led business development, and regional facility frameworks.
• Portfolio Management: Background in portfolio underwriting, risk evaluation, and account profitability management.
• Leadership & Communication: Team management experience paired with effective communication skills.
