Our Client is a leading multinational in the global energy infrastructure and technology sector and they are currently seeking a driven and experienced Tax Manager to oversee all tax matters for our entities across the Asia Pacific region. Reporting to the Tax director for Asia, this role offers a unique opportunity to ensure compliance and drive strategic tax initiatives within a dynamic international environment. You will be instrumental in managing regional tax operations while also contributing to global projects such as reviewing operating structures, supporting mergers and acquisitions, structuring, tax planning, and optimization efforts, including the pursuit of applicable exemptions, relief, and incentives.

Reporting to the regional Tax Director, you will be responsible for leading and managing the Asia Pacific tax function which encompasses ensuring the timely and accurate submission of all relevant tax filings for entities in the region, including corporate income tax, indirect taxes such as GST/SST, transfer pricing documentation, and withholding tax returns, often supported by third-party service providers. A key part of the role involves reviewing regional financial data for group-level reporting purposes, such as Country-by-Country reporting and Pillar 2 requirements. The manager will work independently to monitor and analyze current and upcoming tax legislation and regulatory changes impacting Asia Pacific jurisdictions, assessing their potential effects on the company, and proactively identifying tax risks and opportunities. This includes ensuring appropriate tax risk provisioning at both local and consolidated levels and assisting with internal and external tax audits. The role also involves contributing to the refinement of company tax policies and the overarching global tax strategy. You will provide expert advice on cross-border tax matters, support applications for Advance Pricing Arrangements (APAs), Mutual Agreement Procedures (MAPs), and other rulings with regional tax authorities, and participate in various projects related to acquisitions, divestments, financing, and corporate reorganizations. Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders, tax authorities, external auditors, and tax advisors is crucial for success.
Skills and experience required
- Degree holder in Finance, Economics, Banking, Accounting or relevant disciplines with Relevant years of relevant tax experience gained within a multinational corporation or a Big 4 firm, with experience in managerial capacity.
- Demonstrates a solid understanding of tax accounting principles; experience with lease accounting is a plus.
- Membership with the Singapore Chartered Tax Professionals (SCTP) or a similar professional accounting/taxation body is an added advantage.
- Exhibits excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively to all levels.
- Approaches complex problem-solving systematically and adopts a solution-oriented mindset, paying high attention to detail while maintaining a view of the big picture.
