about the role
This is a pivotal role within our finance team, supporting our ambitious international expansion plans. As a Senior Accountant, you will be an entrusted cross-functional contributor, working closely with both our local Singapore Financial Operations and Accounting teams, as well as our global finance department. You will play a critical role in achieving our accounting operational objectives and ensuring the seamless month-end close for our Singapore entities under US GAAP. Your responsibilities will span preparing and posting month-end journals, conducting meticulous reconciliations and variance analysis to support comprehensive reporting, and assisting with annual financial statement preparation, including bridging US GAAP to local GAAP. You'll also provide essential year-end audit support at both group and local levels, contribute to corporate and indirect tax provisioning and reporting, and oversee crucial customer funds safeguarding and other regulatory processes.
Beyond routine tasks, you will be instrumental in establishing financial reporting best practices by developing and implementing robust systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information. Your expertise will be vital in supporting the development and enhancement of our accounting policies, procedures, and operating internal controls over financial reporting. As we launch new products within each region, you'll be a key advisor, providing essential accounting and tax support to the local management team. Maintaining financial security through vigilant monitoring of internal controls will also be a core part of your role. We are looking for someone who keeps a pulse on current and proposed accounting and tax legislation, recommending new procedures to address their impact, and who is eager to support broader group finance initiatives to achieve our global Financial Operations goals. Furthermore, you will serve as a valuable resource to other departments, researching and interpreting complex accounting and regulatory policies and applying your observations and recommendations to critical operational issues, with ad hoc project support as required.
skills and experience needed
To thrive in this role, you should possess an undergraduate degree in accounting, economics, finance, or a related field, along with a Chartered Accountant qualification (or equivalent) – this is a mandatory requirement. While not essential, experience from a Big 4 accounting firm would be a significant plus, as would prior accounting experience within a financial institution, particularly with derivative products such as options and futures. Familiarity with Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) regulatory reporting is also highly advantageous. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in a regulated industry, preferably financial services, who have a proven track record of effectively managing numerous competing deliverables and consistently meeting deadlines, demonstrating clear ownership of complex areas. Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to query large data sets, are essential. We value individuals with outstanding interpersonal skills and relationship-building abilities, who are committed to continuous learning and eager to dive deep into new areas – experience with cryptocurrency is a plus, but not a prerequisite for success in this role.
