We are partnering with a global life sciences innovator to appoint a Senior Staff Engineer, Fluidic Systems for their expanding R&D team in Singapore. This is a strategic role contributing to the design and development of advanced fluidic and microfluidic systems powering next-generation instruments for genetic analysis in research and clinical settings.
As a senior technical leader, you will drive full-cycle product development—from architecture design through system integration, validation, and manufacturing scale-up—working cross-functionally with engineering, software, and chemistry teams.
...
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the architecture, down-selection, and implementation of high-performance fluidic systems meeting complex system-level requirements.
Design and optimize fluidic workflows with balanced engineering trade-offs in precision liquid handling.
Execute critical parameter management, tolerance budgeting, and risk mitigation to ensure robustness and long-term performance.
Collaborate globally to link fluidic performance with output metrics such as data quality and turnaround time.
Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of complex fluidic systems, including development of in-house metrology tools.
Manage supplier selection and qualification processes across prototyping and production phases.
Foster best practices within the fluidics engineering community and provide mentorship to junior engineers.
Requirements:
Bachelor's or higher degree in Bioengineering, Chemical/Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field.
12+ years of relevant experience, with at least one full product development cycle from concept to commercialization.
Expertise in fluidics systems used in laboratory automation—pipetting, dispensing, mixing, PCR, or library preparation.
Strong background in first-principle modeling and CFD to inform design decisions.
Proven experience in system characterization, DOE, and resolving complex technical challenges.
Familiarity with statistical analysis tools such as Excel and JMP.
Experienced in supplier engagement and contract processes (e.g., SOW, RFQ/RFP).
Track record of leadership in cross-functional product development teams.
