The Head of Modern Off-Trade is a senior commercial leadership position responsible for driving growth and managing strategic partnerships across key off-trade channels. This includes supermarkets, online retailers, convenience stores, and other take-home consumption outlets.
You will own the commercial strategy, lead key customer relationships, and manage a high-performing team to deliver strong sales and profit results.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute the commercial strategy for the modern off-trade channel
Own the P&L for this channel, ensuring revenue and profitability targets are met
Lead and grow relationships with major retail customers
Negotiate commercial terms, including pricing, promotions, and listing agreements
Drive effective joint business planning and long-term partnership strategies
Lead, coach, and develop a team of National Account Managers and potentially Customer Marketing or Category Managers
Set clear KPIs and drive performance across the team
Identify new growth opportunities across e-commerce, new retail formats, and innovative route-to-market strategies
Leverage market and shopper insights to inform assortment, merchandising, and promotional plans
Collaborate with Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, and Category teams to ensure alignment on product launches, promotions, and forecasts
skills and experience required
- A minimum of 8 years of experience managing national or regional off-trade channels
Experienced in off-trade sales and trade marketing within the alcoholic beverage, FMCG, healthcare or pharmaceutical sectors
Strong experience in distributor and wholesale partner management
Deep knowledge of off-trade category dynamics and retail strategy
Commercially astute with strong analytical and financial acumen
Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills
Proactive and strategic planning and organizational capabilities
Skilled in leading cross-functional teams and stakeholder collaboration
Demonstrated success in driving distribution and sales growth through strategic customer partnerships
Experience managing teams and leading through influence in a matrixed organization
Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity while driving structured outcomes
Passion for building lasting partnerships and delivering commercial excellence
