My client is seeking a visionary and accomplished Vice President of Synthetic Biology to lead our R&D efforts in Singapore. This senior leadership role requires deep expertise in molecular biology, genetic engineering, metabolic engineering, and natural product chemistry, along with a strong foundation in microbiology and natural product discovery.
The ideal candidate will bring a track record of scientific excellence, strategic insight, and translational impact, as well as the leadership acumen to build and inspire high-performing teams. This role will be instrumental in advancing the synthetic biology platform and expanding our pipeline of plant-inspired therapeutics through cutting-edge innovation and strategic partnerships in the APAC region.

skills and experience required
Ph.D. in Synthetic Biology, Metabolic Engineering, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a related discipline.
15+ years of experience in synthetic biology, microbial engineering, and natural product biosynthesis, with 5+ years in senior leadership roles.
Demonstrated success in engineering microbial hosts for the production of complex natural products.
Deep expertise in metabolic pathway design and optimization, genome editing (e.g., CRISPR), and synthetic regulatory systems.
Familiarity with ADC payload and linker chemistry, and the integration of biological and chemical manufacturing workflows.
Proven leadership skills with experience managing high-performing, cross-functional teams in a dynamic biotech environment.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including working with external partners, investors, and regulators.
Preferred Qualifications
Industry experience in oncology therapeutics and antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) development.
Track record of securing competitive research funding, grants, or industry collaborations.
Familiarity with computational modeling, bioinformatics, and strain optimization tools.
Experience scaling bioprocesses from bench to pilot and commercial manufacturing.
